Sinan Wren Foundation UK has today received several thousand items of PPE for free distribution to front line staff dealing with Covid-19 in the UK. This was donated by the Turkish Government through its embassy in London to our Community Action Programme.
The coveralls and surgical masks will be distributed to NHS hospitals and care homes across the country. The Foundation would like to thank HE Yavuz Selim Kıran the Deputy Foreign Minister of Turkey for his prompt assistance in helping us to secure the PPE. We would also like to thank HE Ümit Yalçın, Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to the United Kingdom and his Deputy Head of Mission HE Güneş Yeşildağ for the tremendous facilitation they provided to us.
The Foundation’s Turkish NGO partners were instrumental in providing the urgent assistance and contacts in making this shipment of PPE possible, we greatly value their role in making this happen.
The phenomenal work of outreach by global communities in helping each other is part of the good that has come out of this unfortunate crisis. The Foundation echoes the call yesterday by the UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres asking everyone, everywhere, to stand up against hate, to treat each other with dignity and to take every opportunity to spread kindness. He said “ Covid-19 does not care who we are, where we live, what we believe or about any other distinction”.
The Community Action Programme is an ongoing initiative by Sinan Wren Foundation, designed to provide assistance to communities badly affected by Covid-19 across Britain.
